"Pray without ceasing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:17
When life is severe - and it often is ... what will you do?
Yes, the work is not finished. Pressures mount. Tensions threaten you. All of life is pressure. We all live with it. That means you are alive! Professional pressures. What career do I choose? How do I advance? What decisions are smart for my professional development? Do I need to go back to school again? Should I shift to a new profession?
Property pressures. The car, house and garden all produce pressure. Have you had something break down this week? The more things you own, the more things are going to break down. That's life.
On top of these pressures you add a little thing called personal pressure. You look in the mirror and say, "Ah, I'm getting gray. Is my tummy showing? I think my skin is sagging a little." Personal pressures.
All of these are the pressures of living!
Stop! Hold on! Suddenly, under all of these pressures, you don't feel connected to God anymore.
The question was asked, "When God is so beautiful, and Jesus is so wonderful, why isn't everybody a believer?"
Mother Teresa answered, "Distractions."
What do you do when you are distracted by all of life's pressures?
Time to exercise the fine art of persevering through prayer and meditations.
Take a deep breath.
Blow away the pressures, fears, anxieties, discouragements, resentments - blow them all out.
Breath deep again! Take in the fresh air of new hope!
